Kasia Kowalska

Kasia was born at 13 of June 1973. In early nineties she recorded one song with heavymetal band Genoside, the title of that song is "Heart to heart". Then she was joining many groups (most of them played a kind of metal or hard rock music).
In 1993 she decided to start singing on her own hand - first with band called Evergreen. Finally she signed contract with small record company. Thanks to that event her first record called "Gemini" was produced.
On this record you can hear powerful rock songs (My favorites are "Gemini", "Heart of green", "Cukierek - moj dawca slodyczy","I never loved a man") and also few beatiful ballads (my favorites are: "Wyznanie", "Jak rzecz", "Kto moze mi to dac", "Do zludzenia") and cover of Led Zeppelin' song "No quarter". In July 1994 she was supporting Bob Dylan during his few concerts.
In 1995 she published her next record named "Koncert inaczej". On this record you can find her previous songs live loaded plus two covers "Black dog"-from Led Zepplin and "Gdybys kochal, hej" from Breakout (polish 60's band) and concert's version of her absolutely new song "A to co mam" (for this song she got two main prizes: at the Sopot festival and for the best song of the year - Fryderyk - it is Polish equivalent of British Grammy Award).Second part of this record is full of musical standards (very cool and nice for listening). This record has a great atmosfere, you can hear (and join if you want to) fan's ovation, singing and you can hear how Kasia is talking to audience. She's no making her very important, she is very modest and talented too.She is feeling awkwardly when somebody is calling her "star", but for me she is really shining star.
In 1996 Kasia got into Eurovision festival. There she sang a song very difficult to sing (I know what I am writing - I was trying to sing this song ) titled "Chce znac swoj grzech", but the jury found her song not very good (these guys don't know what is really good). Finally she was 14th there.
Few months later she recorded her next album named "Czekajac na....". She shocked everyone (in good meaning) because this record is on the line beetwen pop rock jazz and a little of swing. Besides this record is the most optymistic in her career. There she almost don't sing about pain, unhappiness (about which she has sung before and after). In 1996 she also recorded (with Polisch artists Edyta Bartosiewicz and Kasia Nosowska) a singel "Ave Maria".
In 1996 she also played a role in a film about drug addict (Kasia Kowalska in this role), her uncle (ex-soldier) who is trying to take her away from drugs and about drug's mafia. This film was playing in the cinemas in February 1997. She also has been singing in Polish version of "Dzwonnik z Notre Damme" (english title is: "Flared man from Notre Damme" I guess.Probably I am wrong). That year she was singing for a Polish movie titled "Awantura o Basie" (this movie is based on Kornel Makuszynki's book for children) she also was singing for Coca cola company and Fortuna company.
At 2nd of May 1997 she delivered her daughty - Aleksandra Julia. Then she devotioned to her baby and diappeared from music market for some time.
In June 1998 she came back with her new album titled "Pelna obaw". In this record she came back to rock music. Her lyrics on it are full of disappointment, sadness and fears. Also she put on this record special song for her daughty ("Jestes odrobina szczescia") - she is singing that Aleksandra brougth her happiness. I need to add that all lyrics Kasia wrote by herself."Pelna obaw" is also Kasia's protest against the violence (she wrote very telling lyric to song titled "Co moze przyniesc nowy dzien" and made very telling videoclip).
At the end of 1998 she published her song titled "I bedziesz znow kochac" which she has recorded for Radio ZET.
At February 2000 Kasia joined to a concert tribute to Anna Jantar (our 70's singer who died in air crash in 1980) where she has sung two songs: "Dzien bez happy endu" and "Jak w taki dzien deszczowy").
The same year she was recording her last record "5" which had its premiere at November 2000.
Now you can hear Kasia on the record "Tribute to Aarton Senna" where she sings a song "Bezpowrotnie"
On 14th of october 2002 her new album called "Antidotum" was released

Why do I like her so much?

Her music and her lyrics fall into your head and you can't just hear and forget them. Her songwriting isn't easy. None of her songs is like easy come easy go. She is putting a lot of emotions in every lyric and melody. Her lyrics are full of rebbelion against cruelty of this world, full of sadness and full of questions and strong words (like for example: "God why you don't react when you see that peolpe are hurting each other" or "Life without you will be easier but it isn't easy to accept it" or "It is weak but it is getting stronger and stronger (...)it is pain, pain is my lover" ).
Besides I can find myself somewhere beetwen her songs.

Besides being great artist she is loving mother (for her daughty) and very sensitive person. She loves the animals. She can't stand when sombody hurting them. She gives a lot of money for homelessness dogs and cats (she took care of few dogs and cats at her place). Lately she fights for horses' rights against the cruel transports during which the horses suffer a lot and die.

I want you to know at least small part of her music so I decided to sing for you part of one of her songs. To download it click here (Kasiu, jesli zechcesz tego posluchac, bede ogromnie zaszczycona - koniecznie zerknij do opisu-komentarza tego pliku (tam jest kilka slow dla Ciebie).)
